Dr.V.R.Sinija, joined as Senior Scientist at IIFPT, Thanjavur in the month of April 2011. Before this she worked as Assistant Engineer in the Department of Agriculture, Kerala State. Sinija has acquired her PhD (Agricultural & Food Engineering) and M Tech (Post Harvest Engineering) degrees from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur after her B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering) degree from Kerala Agricultural University. She was awarded with National Doctoral Fellowship by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) New Delhi, for carrying out her research work. Process Technology, Storage and quality evaluation for instant green tea powder and green tea granules was the research area for her Doctoral Degree dissertation. Her M Tech Thesis entitled "Process Technology for production of instant tea" was acknowledged as a result-oriented research work for which she got the best thesis award and received a patent for the same.
She is having eleven years of experience in teaching and research at various capacities in different institutions. Handled theory and practical classes for B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering, Food Technology), M Tech (Agricultural Structures and Process Engineering) and M Sc (Food Science & Technology) students in Kerala Agricultural University, Cochin University and Calicut University, Kerala. Conducted University examinations as an External examiner and served as a member of evaluation committee for University Examinations. She has widely published her work in peer reviewed journals (International and national) and had written several popular articles. She has a passion for organizing seminars, workshops and training programmes for students and Self Help Groups.
Areas of her regular and teaching interests are Food Process Engineering, formulation, process modeling and optimization.
