S.Sulochana, Scientist has completed her post graduation in Agriculture from the University of " Vasil Kolarov?, Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 1984. Later she did one year specialization in the field of Plant breeding in the same University. She has 22 years of experience in post harvest technology of rice processing. Also, she has worked on rice quality assessment and on product development. She has extensive experience in the production of different type of parboiled rice and cured rice. She has wide exposure on various processes adopted in flaked rice and expanded rice industries in different parts of the country. Presently, she is associated with Food Testing Laboratory of IICPT. She is well versed with rice quality analysis and has assessed the quality parameters of rice for more than 250 varieties grown across the country. She has written 3 books on Quality profile of rice varieties from Assam, Manipur and Gujarat. The results of other varieties for States viz. Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and for the Union Territory Pondicherry are being compiled.
She has conducted outreach activities all over the country and also surveyed the status of rice milling industries in Tripura and Aurangabad districts in Bihar. She has conducted Trial millings for FCI in the year 1993-94 and during 2004 in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. She was a member of the team that won ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) Team Research Award for the biennium 1999 ? 2000 and the International Food Conference Award (IFCON) in 2003.
Presently, her focus of work is on product development, grain quality testing and production of quality rice in the rice milling Industry.
