Dr. N. Venkatachalapathy is an Associate Professor and Head of Food Process Engineering at the Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology, Thanjavur, India. He received his B.E. (Ag) degree in 1990 and his M.E. (Ag) in Post Harvest Technology in 1992 from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. After completing Master degree he joined this institute as Workshop Engineer in 1993. He has worked as Scientist from 1999 to 2013 in the same institute. He received his PhD degree from Gandhigram Rural University, Gandhigram in 2012. At present he is the Head of the Department of Food Engineering. He is a Life member of Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers and Association of Food Scientists and Technologists.Research Interests
The primary focus of Dr. N. Venkatachalapathy's recent research work has been directed towards addressing the improvement of farmers and primary processors at farm level. This includes development of gadgets for increasing the income level of farmers and processors at farm level. Also his research interest is on cold storage and drying of farm produce.
He teaches Unit Operations in Food Process Engineering, Transport Processes, Heat Power Engineering and related courses.
