Dr. M. Durgadevi joined IICPT on 19th August 2013, as Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Product Development. She obtained her graduation from Gandhigram Rural Institute, Dindigul and did her Masters in Food Science and Nutrition at Avinashilingam University for Women, Coimbatore. Her Ph.D., was in Food Science and Nutrition from Pondicherry University in the Department of Food Science and Technology.
Before joining IICPT she worked as Guest lecturer at Gandhigram Rural Institute and at TBAK College for Women, Kilakarai. She has also worked as Assistant Professor at Arul Anandar College, Karumathur, in the Department of Food Science and Technology (Department started under UGC Innovative Programme) and played a major role in establishing the laboratory facilities for the department.
She was the recipient of Gold medal in her under graduation. She cleared UGC- NET in 2007 and was awarded with UGC-JRF in 2008. She has National and International Publications and also serves as a volunteer for reviewing research articles in International Journals. She has worked as one of the investigators in the "Evaluation of Nutritious Noon Meal Programme of Tamil Nadu in the District of Madurai?. This work was sponsored by the Government of Tamil Nadu. She has also assisted in the GRI-TAMRF project (Gandhigram Rural Institute ? Texas American Medical Research foundation) in Health screening and blood drawing camp held by the Diabetes prevention research study from 28th Sep- 19th Dec 2004.
Currently she handles classes for UG on Food Science. Her areas of interest are in product development, optimization, food evaluation and shelf-life studies of foods.
